The Leningrad Blockade Museum

needs your support

Funds are badly needed to heat the museum adequately and also to find a way of creating extra space for the 80% of the museum's 20,000 exhibits that are necessarily confined to numerous storage cupboards and boxes. Sponsors are actively sought and a film is being planned. Anyone with an interest in 20th century Russian history and the cultural traditions that are inextricably bound up within it should spend a half day at the School Museum - and spread the word.

Annual events include a children's musical competition, dedicated to Shostakovich, which takes place over 10 days in December. Also an annual a reunion of blockade musicians, theatre workers and actors takes place on and around the anniversary of the opening of the museum, on 16th March.

The Museum, known as "The Muses were not Silent" is located in Public School No 235 at Naerezhnayava Reki Pryazhki 4/6 in St. Petersburg. It can be visited by appointment only by calling (+7812) 1144118 (Museum) or 3155446 (Mrs. Proutt) - Russian only spoken.
